These Masks are made by aborigines of the Chané culture. Yuchán wood (Ceiba insignis) is used and hand-carved with a knife.
It is then hand-painted by skilled artisans with brushes made from the hair of a rodent (the acutí) using natural pigments (extracted from stones, coal and flowers).

These masks represent the fauna and flora of the local area.

This Chane Collection comes from isolated parts of Argentina.

The masks are representations of power and balance between man and nature, intermediary between the world of gods and men.
